ORIGINS & HISTORY:

Conceived in 2006 to allow the re-establishment of operations originally undertaken by the then dormant TORFAEN SCHOOLS FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. The Coaching Centre initiative was devised and implemented by the Area FDO,  supported by the TORFAEN JUNIOR & YOUTH ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

The Centre was specifically designed to provide quality football coaching for all abilities in the local community along with opportunities for young talented players to compete at Welsh Schools Football level, via a Representative Squad route.  At that time, neither of these services were available in Torfaen.

The Coaching Centre became fully operational in early 2007, engaging a Centre Director and team of volunteers, delivering weekly coaching sessions to more than 80 children.  By mid 2008, the Coaching Centre had successfully entered two Representative teams in Welsh Schools football competitions. In season 2010/11 THREE Reps Squads (U11's, U12's & U13's) competed.

The plan for 2011-12 Season involves the formation of FOUR Rep Squads:
U11's & U12's will compete in the WSFA Competition whilst the older age-groups U14's & U15's teams will compete at Inter-County Development Centre level.

TORFAEN COACHING CENTRE is a "Not for profit" voluntary organisation.
